The Department of Planning and Growth Management Transit Division is pleased to offer greater flexibility and more options for VanGO riders by combining two popular modes of transportation: the bicycle and the bus. VanGO buses now have bike racks so you can take your bike with you to your next destination. It’s easy, free, and convenient.

The bike racks are attached to the front of each bus and are easily operated by passengers. Drivers can assist with the operation of the rack. Passengers wishing to transport bikes should first notify the coach operator that they are loading or unloading a bike before approaching the bike rack.

The Tri County Council for Southern Maryland and the Maryland Department of Transportation are offering each passenger riding VanGO with a bicycle a free light set to improve visibility for night bike rides. These will be distributed while supplies last.

Chief of Transit Jeffry Barnett said, “This service is friendly to customers and to the environment. It is our hope that by expanding bicycling opportunities to our passengers, it will provide another way for VanGO to make transit easier.”
