July 31, 2018 – Due to the debris from the Conowingo Dam release, the Fort Smallwood Park Swimming Beach and Sandy Point State Park Beaches in Anne Arundel County are currently closed until further notice.
Advisory: If your local community beach has debris, you are advised against swimming and other direct water contact until the debris stops washing ashore, a clean up has been done and the water clears.
The Department of Health advises people coming in contact with the affected water to wash well with soap and warm water immediately.
