LEONARDTOWN, MD—Come celebrate the best of country living through music, food, entertainment and more atCountry Life Fest. Presented by Winegardner Auto Group, the two-day, family-friendly festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. August 18 and 19 at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds. Allleashed dogsare also invited to attend with their owners.
Special guest, Turtleman, will make an appearance on Saturday to meet and greet fans. Ernie Brown Jr., more commonly known as Turtleman, was the star of the popular Animal Planet show, Call of the Wildman. He is known for his ability to catch even the most elusive snapping turtles, raccoons, skunks, snakes, spiders, possums and more.
New this year, a St. Mary’s County tradition will proudly be served at Country Life Fest: 10 oz. Budweiser cans. Five breweries will also be on tap, including many based locally in Maryland, and Southern Maryland based Three Notch Distillery will host spirit tastings. 100 percent of all profits and proceeds from beer sales to benefit the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department.
Crowd favorite,dog dock jumping, returns again this year. Guests will be amazed watching the pups soar through the air into a 40 foot-long pool and can even register their own dogs to compete. All sizes and breeds are encouraged to participate, as long as they can swim.
In addition to the wide variety of exhibitors displaying everything country, the weekend will include a hourlygun giveawayon Sunday,live music, the All American Lumberjack Show, a Crosman airgun course, chainsaw carving, and an antique tractor pull. Guests are invited to bring their trophy deer mounts to have them officially scored.
Awatermelon eating contestwill also be held on Sunday, August 19. Contestants ages 6 and older are invited to register.
Country Life Fest will also have a free Kids Zone equipped with games and plenty of other activities for the youngest members of the family.
Ticketscan purchased at the entrance of the event and are $12 per day for adults, $6 for kids 5-12, and free for kids 5 and under and dogs.
