The College Board is piloting a new Advanced Placement (AP) exam registration process in Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) this school year. As part of the new process, any student enrolled in an AP class this year who is interested in taking the accompanying exam in May 2019 must register and pay for the exam by Nov. 15, 2018.
At the start of the school year, all AP teachers will provide students with access codes to an online College Board account athttps://myap.collegeboard.org/
The exam fees remain the same this school year: $94 per exam; however, any student who decides to take an AP exam after the Nov. 15 deadline will be charged a late fee of $40 per exam. Additionally, any student who cancels an AP exam by March 1 is subject to a $40 cancellation fee. Students who cancel an AP exam after March 1 will be charged the full exam fee of $94.
Another important aspect of the new pilot program is student and teacher access to online AP resources, including study questions that mirror actual AP exam test material. Students will be able to complete sample questions and track their progress online. This tool is available for all AP students, and not just for those who register for an exam.
Students who enroll in an AP course after the Nov. 15 exam registration deadline can sign up for a test without any late fees. The AP program coordinators at the seven high schools, or classroom teacher, can assist students with registration.
The new AP exam registration process also eliminates a step for students on the day of their exam. On exam day, students will receive a personalized AP label to apply to exam sheets and other exam materials.
Parents and students can request reimbursement for AP exam registration costs. Students must earn a score of 3 or higher to request reimbursement. CCPS processes AP exam reimbursement requests at the beginning of each school year. The reimbursement deadline for exam fees spent during the 2017-18 school year is Friday, Sept. 28. The form is posted on the CCPS website athttp://www.ccboe.com/images/
CCPS does not reimburse for any AP late exam registrations or cancelation fees. For questions about the new registration process, contact your child’s school or call 301-934-7369.
