Salisbury, MD- Thirteen High School Marching Bands from Region 9 gathered at Wicomico County Stadium (Parkside High School) in Salisbury, MD this past Saturday for the 2018 Delmarvacade of Bands.
Each marching band performed seven-to 12- minuted field shows similar to what you would see at a football game halftime show. The marching bands competed in a particular category based on the number of instrumentalists. The National Judges Association scored the event based on a 100-point scale.
Judges base the scored on every aspect of the show, from musical elements, visual effects, and how each member and group adds to the overall effect of the show.
Northern High School competed in Group 2-A and finished first with awards for High Percussion. Their score of 85.680 beat out North Caroline High School (84.445) and Washington High School( 76.090).
Huntingtown High School competed in Group 2-Open and finished first with awards for High Auxiliary and Percussion. Their score of 93.00 beat out Queen Anne’s County High school (84.90) and Parkside High School( 88.60, competed for score only as host of the event).
Huntingtown High School performed at another event in
Mechanicsburg, PA on Sept. 30, 2018 and scored a 91.15; which at the time had beaten out every other score for the season across all four open divisions(78 teams).
