Washington, D.C.-  President Donald Trump ordered the US flag flown at half-staff effectively immediately until sunset on Nov. 10, as a mark of solemn respect for the victims of the terrible act of violence perpetrated in Thousand Oaks, California on Nov. 7. 

In accordance with Federal Law, no flag shall be higher than the American Flag. The Maryland Flag will also be lowered to half-staff. 

Flag Status Alert: United States Flag and Maryland Flag Are at Half-Staff-

As a mark of solemn respect for the victims of the terrible act of violence perpetrated in Thousand Oaks, California, on November 7, 2018, President Donald Trump ordered that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff effective IMMEDIATELY until sunset, Saturday, November 10, 2018. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff. No flag may fly higher than the United States flag.

Governor Hogan has also ordered the the Maryland Flag be lowered to half-staff at sunset on November 10, 2018 for Former Maryland Senator Joesph Tydings.

This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the Maryland State Flag be lowered to half-staff effective at sunrise, Saturday, November 10, 2018 and returned to full-staff at sunset, Saturday, November 10, 2018. This is in honor of Joseph Davies Tydings, a former United States Senator from Maryland, who passed away on October 8, 2018.
