The Metropolitan Commission is working on a major upgrade & relocation of the existing Great Mills Waste Water Pump Station originally constructed in the early 1980s. Due for upgrades in order to better serve the community, its proximity to the St. Mary’s River & the possible future SHA construction/widening of the bridge near the intersection of MD 246 & MD 5, required relocation of the existing station.

Construction of the new station began in August 2018. To date, the concrete base slab & walls of the structure have been poured & waterproofed & the pipework along MD 5 has been constructed & tested. The contractor is currently working on the top concrete slab & backfilling around the structure.

Work will continue through summer with an anticipated completion sometime this winter.
