Waldorf, MD- A Tuesday night motorcycle crash has left one man severely injured.
On Tuesday, August 27, 2019, around 6:20 p.m., 22-year-old Tashawn Michael Elizee, was traveling on his 2014 Suzuki motorcycle on U.S. 301 near Acton Lane. Elizee was traveling in excess of 85 mph, in a posted 45 mph zone.
An Equinox, driven by 27-year-old Shanice Matthews of Waldorf pulled into the center of the roadway to enter the shopping center.
Elizee then collided with the rear passenger side of the Quinox and was ejected from the motorcycle and became entrapped int he Equinox as it flipped.
Emergency Medical Personnel was nearby and was able to extract Elizee from the vehicle. Maryland State Police Aviation was called in to transport to MedStar University Hospital in critical condition. Matthews was taken to the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. U.S. Route 301 was closed for several hours while emergency personnel helped the victims and police reconstructed the crash.
Troopers Meurrens and Moorman are conducting the investigation and at this time speed appears to be a factor with no signs of impairment from either party.
