Thursday, February 6 – Maryland in the Age of Sail Lecture Series: The American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Bay
7 p.m. – 8 p.m.Join Mark Wilkins, Curator of Maritime History at the Calvert Marine Museum, as he explores “Maryland in the Age of Sail.” This lecture will address the question: What role did the Chesapeake Bay play in the War for Independence? This talk will explore the tactical and strategic importance of the Bay during the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, including important battles and associated naval engagements and strategies. Lectures are FREE and open to the public.
Friday, February 7 – Sunday February, 9 – Jewelry Trunk Show
10:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.Join us for three special days at the Museum Store during our annual Jewelry Trunk Show! We are excited to welcome back beautiful collections from Michelle Pressler, Mickey Lynn, and VIELÄ. Come shop with us and get a new look for the warmer weather ahead. Plus, enjoy a FREE box of sea salt caramels with any jewelry purchase of $50 or more!
Saturday, February 15 – Sunday February, 16 – Great Backyard Bird Count
11 a.m. – 12 p.m. & 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Join a CMM volunteer and participate in a Citizen Science activity that provides data to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society. The Great Backyard Bird Count is a fun event that engages bird watchers in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of bird populations. Sign up the day of the event at the Admissions Desk in the museum lobby. Space is limited in each session. For adults and children in third grade or older who are interested in assisting with research. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Find out why this commodity was so important and lucrative to global commerce. Lectures are FREE and open to the public.
Friday, February 21 – The Maritime Performance Series presents Diane Daly
7 p.m. in the Harms Gallery.Diane Daly is a vocalist of moody contrasts and evocative depth. Diane has spent her career exploring a world of music from the strictest classical solos to avant-garde cabaret. Doors open at 6 p.m. with beer and wine available for sale. Saturday, February 22 – Fossil Club Meeting & Public Lecture
1 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.Quarterly meeting of the CMM Fossil Club at 1 p.m., followed by a public lecture at 2:30 p.m. in the Harms Gallery. Sarah Augusta “Gussie” MacCraken will present the lecture entitled, “The Inconspicuous Lives of Ancient Insects: Fossil Evidence of Insect Herbivory on Plants.”Lecture is FREE and open to the public.
