News Release, Sunshine Foundation Dream Village
Bryans Road, MD- Saqira, age 10 was recently granted a dream trip to visit the Central Florida theme parks by the Sunshine Foundation, which answers the dreams of children living with life-long chronic illnesses, physical challenges, or the trauma of abuse. Saqira was joined on her trip with her parents and sister.
While in Central Florida, Saqira and her family visited LEGOLAND Florida Resort, Universal Studios, and The Walt Disney World Theme Parks.
One of the highlights of the trip was the family’s stay at the Sunshine Foundation Dream Village, a 22-acre resort with themed cottages equipped for the special needs of young people like Saqira, who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
“This dream helped Saqira realize that places like the theme parks exist. It truly brought her books and movies to life. Saqira has Type 1 Diabetes and her blood sugars this week were steadier and relaxed because of this trip.” Jocelyn- Mom.
The Sunshine Foundation provides these Dream Come True trips for children that are turned away from other wish-granting organizations that require a life-threatening or critical diagnosis.
