Leonardtown, MD- Chad Willaim Bowen, 26 of Mechanicsville, MD was arrested and charged on June 6, 2020, after he allegedly forced a passenger in his vehicle out and then fired a firearm in the area.
Bowen was arrested in Charles County in 2013 where he pled guilty to con-armed robbery with a slew other charges being Nolle Prosequi(not prosecuted). Bowen was prohibited from owning a firearm.
Then on June 6, Bowen allegedly forced the victim out of the car and fired the weapon. He was later seen traveling northbound on Route 235. Deputy Budd initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as the suspect. Located on the vehicle’s floorboard was a loaded firearm. Bowen is prohibited from possessing a firearm and ammunition due to a previous conviction.

Bowen was arrested and charged with the following:
- Handgun in Vehicle
- Loaded Handgun in Vehicle
- Possession of Regulated Firearm by Prohibited Person
- Possession of Ammunition by Prohibited Person
- Handgun on Person
- Loaded Handgun on Person
- Reckless Endangerment
Bowen was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown and has since been released on pretrial supervision.
