Piney Point, MD- On Friday, July 3, 2020, the Second District Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Crab Pot Lane in Piney Point, MD. Upon arrival with thirty-one personnel, they discovered a duplex with smoke and flames showing.

The homeowners discovered the fire with the assistance of smoke detectors and were able to exited the home without injury.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal investigated and determined a improperly installed light on the front exterior wall of the home was responsible. The Office of the State Fire Marshal estimates the damage to be $75,000 with a loss of $50,00 in contents.
