LEONARDTOWN, MD – The Museum Stores at St. Clement’s Island & Piney Point Museums are now offering a discount incentive to anyone who purchases an e-gift card for the online museum store. Small businesses like the Museum Stores continue to face economic challenges due to the COVID-19 shutdown.
MarketWatch recently listed buying gift cards as the number one way consumers can support local businesses during the pandemic. The Friends of St. Clement’s Island & Piney Point Museum Store added a brand-new e-commerce website at the beginning of the year and everyday new merchandise is added to the online offerings.
Jayne Walsh, Museum Store Manager, recently announced the new “Gift-Up Program,” designed to encourage electronic gift card purchases that can be safely used through the secure online museum stores portal. “If you buy an e-gift card valued at $25 to $100, you’ll receive 20% off the purchase price of that gift card, now through Labor Day, September 7, 2020. For example, a gift card valued at $25 would be only $20, a $50 gift card for $40, or a $100 gift card for $80” says Walsh. “It’s a simple purchase – a customer can order from our e-gift card order page, where they can choose preset or custom amounts, time of delivery, as well as add a personal message and the recipient’s information.”
Purchasers will then enter their payment information and receive an email confirmation of their order. The recipient will get an emailed gift card with a 16-digit code and a shopping link to the Friends online Museum Store. To use the gift card, once the customer gets to the checkout page after shopping, underpayment information, they will choose the “add a gift card” option and insert the 16-digit code. The museum store is also offering free shipping so e-gift cards can be sent to friends and family outside the Southern Maryland area.
Walsh adds: “This is an amazing way to support our local non-profit Friends organization and brighten someone’s day with an online shopping treat. We have over 250 items available to purchase through the online store – everything from regional books to our popular Maryland flag merchandise, to kids crafts and games, and we will ship it free or deliver locally contact-free.”
