News Release, SagePoint Senior Living Services

LA PLATA, MD (Wednesday, July 29, 2020)— Sagepoint Senior Living Services in LaPlata has once again earned another 5-star Medicare rating, Sagepoint CEO Andrea Dwyer announced today. Dwyer said Sagepoint continues to remain a 5-star facility, the top rating for Medicare evaluations, since June 2019.

Additionally, last week officials from the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) conducted an infection control inspection of the Sagepoint senior care facility. Dwyer said inspectors found no deficiencies during last Wednesday’s unannounced visit.

Sagepoint spokesperson Joyce Riggs addressed each of these issues in a video that was posted earlier today on Sagepoint’s website:

“The inspection report came back deficiency-free, which is great news for everyone at Sagepoint, especially our residents,” Dwyer said in making today’s announcement. “That outcome is due to the tremendous work our staff does on a daily basis to help keep our residents safe.”

Dwyer also noted that Sagepoint Senior Living Services scored well above statewide averages in all categories in the most recent Maryland Health Care Satisfaction Survey, which measures resident satisfaction with nursing home facilities. According to that survey, Sagepoint exceeded statewide scores in staff and administration of the facility, care provided to residents, food and meals, physical aspects of the nursing home, and overall care received.

Additionally, when asked “Would you recommend Sagepoint to others?” 94 percent of Sagepoint residents answered yes, compared to the statewide figure of 81 percent. A PDF of the 2018 survey is available upon request.

Sagepoint also reported earlier this week that it currently has no new residents testing positive for COVID at its nursing home facility and that it continues to accept new residents. There also have been no positive COVID cases at Sagepoint’s adjacent assisted living facility.
