ANNAPOLIS, MD—Maryland continues to report declines in key COVID-19 metrics, with the statewide positivity rate falling to a record low 3.49%, the daily positivity rate down to 3.04%, and total hospitalizations dropping by 18 over the past 24 hours to 470.
Statewide Positivity Rate Drops to Record Low 3.49%. Maryland’s seven-day average positivity rate fell to 3.49% today, the lowest level reported since the pandemic began. The daily positivity rate fell to 3.04%. The statewide positivity rate has been under 5% since June 25. Total Hospitalizations and ICU Levels Continue to Decline. There are 470 total current hospitalizations—a decrease of 18 over the past 24 hours. There are 111 ICU beds in use—a decrease of 6. Overall, ICU levels have declined more than 29% since July 25.
Baltimore City Positivity Rate Falls to Record Low, Positivity Rate Below 5% In 23 of 24 Jurisdictions.
- The positivity rate for Baltimore City has dropped to 4.32%—a record low.
- The positivity rate for 19 of the state’s 24 jurisdictions is below 3.5%, and the positivity rate for 23 of the 24 jurisdictions is below 5%. Only Prince George’s (5.57%) is above 5%.
Positivity Rate Among Marylanders Under 35 Down 33% Since July 23. Over the last several weeks, state health officials have focused on addressing rising infection rates among young people. The positivity rate among Marylanders under 35 has steadily declined over the last three weeks, nearly 33% since July 23, to 4.55%. The positivity rate among Marylanders over 35 is 2.95%.
1.5 Million Tests Conducted, 18.1% of Population Tested. In total, Maryland has now conducted 1,533,472 COVID-19 tests, including 29,842 tests over the last 24 hours. 1,095,094 Marylanders have now been tested for COVID-19, representing 18.1% of the state’s population.
