The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) said Wednesday that taxpayers who received unemployment benefits that are now tax-free because of a provision in the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill should start to see their refunds in May. The agency said it will automatically refund money for unemployed people who filed their tax returns before the tax-free provision was signed into law.
