Due to the debris from the Conowingo Dam release, the Bay Front Park public beach is closed until further notice. If your community beach has debris, you are advised against swimming and other direct water contact until the debris stops washing ashore, a cleanup has been done and the water is clear.

Further, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources suggests “extreme caution” while boating in and around the Chesapeake Bay due to large amounts of debris in local waterways.  Large amounts of “marine debris” (tree limbs and other materials) — the result of heavy rains and gate openings at Conowingo Dam)  — have now reached the mid-bay area.
