A Maryland State Trooper was injured on June 11, 2024, when struck by a fleeing suspect’s vehicle during a theft pursuit in Calvert County. Deputies responded to a theft in progress at Harris Teeter in Dunkirk at around 4:02 p.m. and observed two male suspects escaping in a white Nissan Altima with stolen items.

The suspects, later identified as Shadeed Gregory Graham, 23, of Capitol Heights, Malik Demencio Lewis, 27, of Hagerstown, and Jordan Green, 27, of Bowie, were pursued southbound on Rt. 4 near Lower Marlboro Road. Despite attempts by TFC Bauer, Trooper Bennett, and Lt. Tilley to stop the vehicle, the suspects evaded the traffic stop, initiating a high-speed chase.

The chase continued to Harvey Road in Huntingtown, where the suspects attempted to ram a detective’s vehicle before continuing their flight. TFC Bauer and Trooper Bennett were deploying stop sticks near Harvey Road and MacArthur Drive when the suspect vehicle swerved to avoid the sticks, striking TFC Bauer in the process.

All three suspects were quickly apprehended and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. They face charges including Attempted First-Degree Murder, multiple counts of First-Degree Assault, Second-Degree Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Theft ranging from $1500 to $25,000.

TFC Bauer was flown to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore by Maryland State Police Aviation Trooper 2. After evaluation and treatment, he was released from the hospital.
