…WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 4 PM
* WHAT…Snow expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions. Total
snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are expected, with highest
amounts in southern Calvert and St. Mary`s Counties.
* WHERE…In Maryland, Charles, St. Marys and Calvert counties. In
Virginia, King George county.
* WHEN…From 7 PM this evening to 4 PM EST Saturday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Be prepared for significant reductions in
visibility at times. Temperatures will be close to freezing
through the event.
A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected. If you must travel, keep an extra
flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are

3:00 p.m. 12/8/2017- Snow totals have been updated by the NWS.
10:00 a.m.- Snow models are taking shape with forecasting getting tighter on where the accumulation will be. These are estimates and predictions. Areas that are more rural will see the accumulation better than those near highways, shopping centers, etc. Stay tuned for any further updates.
6 :00 a.m. – The first Winter Storm of this season is shaping up to either tease us with snow, or drop several inches. For the past several days the different weather models have bounced back and forth between East of I-95 and West of I-95. As of 6:00 a.m. 12/8/2017, the models seem to agree SoMD is going to get measurable snow. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory beginning at midnight tonight until 4 p.m. Saturday (12/9/2017). Included also below is the official NWS Forecast along with it’s new experimental forecast showing potential snowfall totals for SOMD. As with any storm, keep checking back every few hours for any updates. Even the slightest movements in these storms can change it from minor to major back to minor.
