MECHANICSVILLE, MARYLAND (December 14, 2017) – Maryland International Raceway ™ (MDIR) proudly announces the release of the 2018 schedule. This will be an exciting line-up of events and the season will consist of over 100 race days with the season-opener being held on Sunday, March 4th.
Signature special events in 2018 will include: (two) Swap Meets, HaltechDoor Wars presented by Winegardner Buick GMC- Prince Frederick, International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit Racing EquipmentSportsman Spectacular, (three) Street Warriors – roll racing events, (three) Xtreme Dragbike Association (XDA) events, (one) International Drag Bike League (IDBL) motorcycle event, (two) NOLimit Promotions Triple Crown 25s events, (three) Custom T’s Grudge events, (two) Metro Area Grudge Racers events, (three) War on Wheels events, (two) IREV Import events, XDP Truck Mania, PDRA Racing, Jet Wars, Super Chevy Show presented by Winegardner Auto Group, Legends at Budds Creek, Superchargers Showdown, IHRA Summit Series Team Finals, Ford Fever Classic presented by the Mid-Atlantic Ford Dealers, Mopar Eastern Classic, and the World Cup Finals – Import vs. Domestic event. Next year’s schedule is once again all about our racers and fans. We have kept all of the events that everyone has come to enjoy with exciting soon-to-be-announced event attractions.
The Speed Unlimited Performance Midnight Madness Series and the Speed Unlimited E.T. Series are the backbone of our program and promises to continue delivering fun and friendly competition for you and your family to enjoy. Also, be sure to make Budds Creek your destination when you need to Test & Tune your car or bike on select Friday nights and Sundays.
MDIR has some of the best bracket racers in the country and we have some great “big buck” bracket programs with additional multiple weekend events designed just for you in ‘18. We are proud to announce that we will host two No Limit Productions Triple Crown 25s events; one on May 17-20 and the other July 19-22 for Top ET racers.MDIR will also host multiple two-day Speed Unlimited Blowout Weekends with $5K to win in Top ET, $2K to win Mod ET as well as a bonus Hubble (Ron Hubble) Motorsports Junior Dragster purse each day. The spring blowout will be held April 21-22 and the summer blowout is Aug 11-12. Returning for 2018, there will be a $5k Top ET race each day at the Superchargers Showdown on October 5-6 as well as an additional points race added on Sunday, October 7. MDIR is also proud to announce that we will again be the host track for the 2018 IHRA Summit Team Finals on Sept 27 – Sept 30 as well as the addition of the IHRA Summit Sportsman Spectacular August 24-26. A two-day ET Race weekend will also be held July 14-15 in conjunction with the Jet Wars event. New for 2018, the April 13-15 Door Wars show will offer an all door-car bracket bash with separate races on both Saturday and Sunday with Top ET and Mod ET racers competing separately down to a run-off final.
In motorcycle action, MDIR will host four action-packed weekends in 2018. The newly formed Miller Brother Productions Xtreme Dragbike Association (XDA) will host three events at Budds Creek. The dates of these events is as follows: April 27-29, July 27-29, and September 21-23. Each of these events will draw between 700-800 motorcycle racers. XDA will feature 1/4 mile six-second, 220 mph Pro Street bikes along with hundreds of sportsman motorcycle racers. The Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & WheelsInternational Drag Bike League (IDBL) will also host the Sport Nationals event at MDIR June 8-10 featuring the best of sportsman drag bike action. The 10th annual Haltech Door Wars presented by Winegardner Auto Group returns to MDIR April 13-15. This event has become our signature Outlaw event. It will once again feature the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Associationthe 1/4 mile! The event also includes Outlaw 10.5, Warrior Outlaws, the new Dxp235 Drag Radial class, the region’s best no time action with Xtreme 28/275 and NO CLOCK Small Block Shootout cars, as well as an all door-car bracket bash. This is one of our “must attend” events this season.
The Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) is back at MDIR next year on a new early-season date of May 3-5 and will feature three Pro Mod classes, Extreme Pro Stock, Pro Extreme Motorcycle, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Bracket Bash and Junior Dragster. The show was absolutely incredible the past two seasons and put fans on the edge of their seats all day! This event is just going to keep getting bigger and bigger at MDIR! The summer heats up with the return of Jet Wars and thrill show on July 14. The “wow factor” event will feature jet funny cars and jet dragsters, fuel altereds, fire truck wheelstander, motorcycle jumping thrill act and more to be announced.
On August 18-19 the Original Super Chevy Show with TEN: The Enthusiast Network returns to Budds Creek for year number three. The traditional Super Chevy weekend highlights includes car show, all-Chevy bracket racing, vendor midway and swap-meet; as well as special jet funny car exhibition and more.
As with every season, we always save the best for last. The 23rd annual Haltech World Cup Finals (WCF) – Import vs Domestic is back and it will be bigger than ever. This five-Day event will be held on October 31-November 4 and draws cars from NMCA, NMRA, LSX Shootouts, Buick GN Shootouts, SSCSO, IREV, IFO, Pan-American Nationals and other major series every year. At WCF, fans get to see hundreds of heads-up racers from over 10 different countries battle it out on the ¼-mile for over $100,000 in cash purse and bragging rights in front of 30,000 fans.
