Annapolis, MD (March 2, 2018) – Due to the dangerous weather conditions, all senior activity centers will be closed today, Friday, March 2nd, 2018.  Lunch will not be served at any Nutrition Program site. Anne Arundel County Public Schools: Schools closed for students.  Parent/Teacher conferences for elementary, middle, and high schools
9:30 a.m.: Lothian Elementary School now has no power. As a result, all parent-teacher conferences scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today or later are canceled.9:30 a.m.State wrestling tournament postponed; will now be held Saturday and Monday.

Calvert County:

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – March 2, 2018 – Calvert County Government announced several government closings and service disruptions today, Friday, March 2, 2018, due to high winds.

The Department of Parks & Recreation has closed all county outdoor parks. The Chesapeake Hills Golf Course and the Solomons Visitor Center are also closed. The Calvert County Public Transportation Division has suspended all county bus service for the remainder of the day. In addition, the Appeal Landfill in Lusby has limited capacity and will close at noon and the Ball Road Convenience Center in St. Leonard is closed due to fallen trees. All other county convenience centers remain open today.

The National Weather Service is reporting that a high wind warning remains in effect through Saturday. A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is occurring and sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

The Calvert County Department of Public Safety Division of Emergency Management asks all citizens to exercise extreme caution and report all downed trees and power lines. Charles County: 
Charles County Public Schools:  Due to current weather conditions and high wind warnings issued from the National Weather Service, all Charles County public schools are closed on Friday, March 2, 2018. There is a code blue for staff, which means Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) employees do not report to work today. Government: 

Charles County Government is open today, March 2 with liberal leave in effect for non-essential employees. Essential personnel and employees required to maintain operations during inclement weather are to report to work as scheduled.

• Meals on Wheels program
• All school-based community centers
• Lackey High School, Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center, and North Point High School indoor pools

• Charles County Landfill, Landfill Recycling Center, and Pisgah Recycling Center
• Tri-County Animal Shelter
• Charles County Department of Health
• Elite Gymnastics and Recreation Center

St. Mary’s County:
St. Mary’s County Public Schools: Schools: Closed, Employees: Code 3
Government: Leonardtown, MD – A high wind warning remains in effect through Saturday. Winds of between 30 and 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph can be expected. Some downed trees have been reported in the northern part of the county.
The following delays and schedule changes are in effect for Friday, March 2, 2018:
? All St. Mary’s County Administrative Offices are closed
? All St. Mary’s County Public Schools will be closed for students. Code 3 for employees.
? Non-Public School transportation will not operate.
? All Recreation and Parks programs operating in the Public Schools are cancelled
? Recreation and Parks facilities are closed and all programs cancelled
? STS Transit will operate normally (subject to change)
? The six (6) Convenience Centers and St. Andrews Landfill are open
? All three Senior Activity Centers (Garvey, Loffler and Northern) are closed and there will be no home delivered meals
? All St. Mary’s County Library locations (Charlotte Hall, Leonardtown & Lexington Park)
? All College of Southern Maryland campuses are closed
? All three St. Mary’s County Library locations (Charlotte Hall, Leonardtown and Lexington Park) will be open and operate under normal hours (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
? STS bus routes which usually cross over the Thomas Johnson Bridge into Calvert County will not cross the bridge until further notice. Buses will turn around in the shopping center. No other STS routes are affected.
The St. Andrews Landfill is open and will observe normal operating hours.
All six (6) convenience centers will open at their regular scheduled time of 9:30 a.m. and observe a normal schedule
