The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners recognized crews from the Department of Public Works Water and Sewerage Division with a Team Excellence Award yesterday.
When Winter Storm Inga hit the east coast in early January 2018, the crews worked countless hours, in frigid temperatures to make repairs to several water main breaks in Calvert Beach, Kenwood Beach and the Chesapeake Lighthouse communities. Five inches of snow was followed by extreme cold temperatures, high winds and freezing rain during a four-day period where the maintenance and on-call crews were dispatched to locate and repair the water main breaks despite the treacherous conditions.
The board thanked crews for going over and above the call of duty to ensure quick repairs in order to keep services running. Pictured with the board to receive the Team Excellence Award are Water and Sewer Trainee Bryan Gatton Sr., Maintenance Supervisor Ryan Bowen, Mechanical Maintenance Technician Robert Thomas, Master Electrician Nicholaus Buckler, Mechanical Maintenance Technician Stefon Ryan, Maintenance Workers John “Mike” Harrington and Travis Bailey.
