The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners recognized the 2018 Citizens Academy graduating class for their recent participation in the nine-week program that offered residents an in-depth look at how county government works. The participants attended an informative, fast-paced, program every Thursday evening from Jan. 11 through March 8, from 6-9 p.m. The free initiative featured site visitsand discussions with county employees who gave residents a unique insight into their daily work.

“It truly is an honor and a privilege to be able to do this,” said County Administrator Terry Shannon. “They were a wonderful class. They were passionate as well and they asked great questions and were very attentive.”

This year’s academy had a total of 20 participants, 11 of which will receive continuing education units from the College of Southern Maryland.
