LEONARDTOWN, MD – St. Mary’s County Public Schools is providing support for students and staff in the process of recovery and transition to return to school. Great Mills High School will reopen for staff on Monday, April 2, 2018, and all students will return on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. This will allow for staff to prepare for students and ensure proper supports are available. When students return, additional counselors and mental health providers will be on site to assist students.

During the week of March 26 – 30, 2018, continued support is available for students, staff, and families of Great Mills High School. Mental health providers from across our community have offered counseling and therapeutic services. A list of services can be found online at www.smcps.org/ss/gmhscounseling. Additionally, Walden Sierra’s crisis hotline is available 24-hours a day at 301-863-6661.

As our community recovers from the tragic events from last week, there has been an outpouring of support for the students and staff of Great Mills High School. We thank our community partners, businesses, and individuals who have offered support and resources.
