OnMarch 30, 2018, Jaelynn Rose Willey was laid to rest. Jaelynn will be missed by all of us at the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office. On January 23, 2014, Girl Scout Troop #1443, presented Sheriff Tim Cameron and the Special Operations Division K-9 Unit with a ballistic K-9 vest. Willey was part of that Girl Scout Troop, that worked diligently to raise money forthe ballistic vest.
The members of Troop #1443,earned the majority of the funds to purchase the vest by selling fruit cups and lemonade at Earth Day, the Solomon’s Boat Race, as well as solicited money from local businesses.
Present atJaelynn’s funeral, were members of theK-9 Unit, whodisplayed the donated vestto honor Jaelynn’s contribution to the Sheriff’s Office. Since the vest was presented, K-9 Noro, and K-9 Brockwore it on many occasions;the vest continues to be utilized and will now be worn by K-9 Cero. The Sheriff’s Officewill always remember Jaelynn, and her contribution to protect our K-9officers whoinreturn areprotecting the citizens of St. Mary’s County.
