Don’t miss out on our super-special event as we will feature a Pet Parade in the heart of Downtown Leonardtown! Bring your four-legged furry friends (dressed to impress if you so desire – pet and their people costumes are welcome!) and join us on The Square for the Pet Parade at 6 PM.
No pet? No problem, just come watch the fun, as always First Fridays are family-friendly events for all. The first 50 pets/ people to register at The Square to participate in the parade will receive a goody bag, registration is free and will be from 5-6 PM.
During the month of April we celebrate Earth Day, along with this theme of life and respect for “all things nature-made” we recognize not only our planet but the animals too. Sadly there are never nearly enough good homes for each and every homeless, abandoned, or lost creature but in the span of a single evening we can help them.
If you have been pondering adopting a special life-long friend, signing up as a foster parent for a playful pup or too cute kitty (remember that kitten season will shortly be upon us), or simply making a donation of cash or supplies to help out then now is your chance. Various animal rescue groups will be present on April 6th to speak with potential adopters and accept donations, perhaps you could be part of the next “match-made-in-heaven”. Together we can make a difference!
Come early and stay late, the festivities will start at 5 PM as participating shops, restaurants, and art galleries will stay open late. Many will offer one-evening only specials and promotions, most locations welcome pets inside their establishments and/or offer special pet-friendly areas for dining, just look for posted signs or inquire within. Check the First Friday Facebook page for updates and details.
The all ages audience participation Drum Circle with the SoMar Drummers will be held from 7-8 PM at St. Mary’s County Arts Council at 22660 Washington St. (across from Winegardner Motors), bring your percussion instrument or use one of those provided there. Make Leonardtown your “Special Place To Be” every First Friday, we look forward to seeing you on April 6th!
