SMADC is pleased to announce our second OPEN MEETING in the Future of Southern Maryland Livestock Production series. This meeting was requested based on feedback from the first meeting; the topic will be to discuss a new initiative to consolidate livestock locally for pick up/transportation and return processed meat to the producers in a centralized location (TBD) in Southern Maryland.
The meeting will be held on the evening of Monday, April 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Charlotte Hall Library, in St. Mary’s County located at 37600 New Market Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 (Directions to Library).
The agenda of the meeting is to determine the efficacy of consolidating delivery of live animals to any/all of currently utilized meat processors in order to eliminate the considerable time and transportation costs incurred by Southern Maryland meat producers.
Representatives from the four meat processors most patronized by Southern Maryland producers will be in attendance: Hoffman’s Meats, Sudlersville Meat Locker, Fauquier’s Finest, and Old Line Meats.
The meeting will be OPEN and PARTICIPATORY. All ideas are welcome. It is the objective to have a workable action plan at the conclusion of the meeting.
We encourage all Southern Maryland meat producers to attend.
