Fredericksburg, Va. –Senior captainConner Campbell(Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) is the first St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s lacrosse player to earn Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week honors asCampbellgarnered the accolade for the week ending April 22. This is his first-ever CAC weekly honor.

The 5-11 defenseman was named as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Seahawks to their fifth win of the season.Campbellis the second Seahawk to be recognized by the conference office this season asMax Groenreaped CAC Offensive Player of the Week laurels on March 12.

Campbell’sselection today snaps a four-year drought since St. Mary’s last CAC Defensive Player of the Week honoree, which was goalkeeperZack Blewett ’14on March 10, 2014.

He matched his career-high for the second time with seven caused turnovers while adding five ground balls in a 12-5 win over Wesley College on April 18 to make it a memorable Senior Day.

Campbellcurrently leads the conference with 47 caused turnovers while being tied for 12th with 54 ground balls. Within Division III, he ranks eighth with 2.94 caused turnovers per game.

St. Mary’s (5-11, 2-5 CAC) will be back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, April 24 when the Seahawks travel to the Eastern Shore to face No. 7 Salisbury University (13-3, 6-1 CAC) under the lights at 7:00 p.m. in a CAC tilt.
