Thoroughbred Drive Entrance Permanently Closes
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – May 17, 2018 – The Calvert County Department of Public Works announced today that crews are finalizing the road improvement work along MD Route 231 in the area of Prince Frederick Boulevard in Prince Frederick. Several significant traffic pattern changes will occur next week, May 21-25, because of the installation of a new permanent traffic signal at the intersection of MD Route 231 and Prince Frederick Boulevard.
The new traffic signal will start as a flashing light for three days starting on or about Tuesday, May 22, pending weather and site conditions. It will shift to a permanent operational mode with red, amber and green lights on or about May 25. In addition to the new traffic signal and traffic patterns, the entrance of Thoroughbred Drive at MD Route 231 will permanently close on or about Tuesday, May 22. The alternate route to Thoroughbred Drive will be Prince Frederick Boulevard at the new traffic signal.

Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will stage message signs in all directions to highlight the new traffic signal. Commuters are urged to stay alert and use extra caution in coming weeks to accommodate the changes.
