
NAVAL AIR WARFARE CENTER AIRCRAFT DIVISION, PATUXENT RIVER, Md. — Cmdr. William E. R. Hargreaves turned over command of the United States Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS) to Cmdr. Glenn P. Rioux during a change of command ceremony on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
Hargreaves, a former USNTPS graduate and H-60 Seahawk pilot, reported to the USNTPS as executive officer in June 2015 and has served as commanding officer since January 2017 following a naval career supporting a number of flight test projects, carrier and rescue operations and helicopter program offices at NAVAIR.
Rioux, also former USNTPS graduate and E-2C Hawkeye pilot, reported to the USNTPS as executive officer in January 2017 following a naval career supporting a number of flight test projects, carrier and humanitarian operations and unmanned air systems program offices at NAVAIR.
The USNTPS was founded in 1945 to ensure test pilots of the day adapted to a rapidly evolving aircraft industry. Located in Patuxent River, Md., the school provides instruction to national and international pilots, flight officers and engineers on theory, test and evaluation of rotary and fixed wing aircraft and airborne systems. Graduating students are prepared to meet requirements of research, developmental and operational test and evaluation activities in support of U.S. military services, government agencies and many foreign nations.
With facilities in Patuxent River, Maryland; Lakehurst, New Jersey; and Orlando, Florida NAWCAD supports the research and development, engineering, test and evaluation of all Navy and Marine Corps air vehicle systems and trainers.
