St. Mary’s City, Md. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s soccer schedule for the upcoming 2018 season has been announced and will feature nine home games in the final season of Seahawk Stadium.
2018 St. Mary’s Women’s Soccer Schedule
Last season, the Seahawks finished the year with a 6-9-4 overall record, including a 4-3-2 mark in Capital Athletic Conference action. St. Mary’s advanced to the conference tournament semifinals for the third straight season, falling to two-time defending champion, Christopher Newport University.
Eighteen regular-season matches comprise the 2018 lineup, including battles against four participants from the 2017 NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament – McDaniel College, Lynchburg College, Virginia Wesleyan University, and Christopher Newport.
Additionally, Lynchburg (No. 15), CNU (No. 17), and Virginia Wesleyan (No. 24) finished ranked in the Top 25 in the final 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer poll.
“We know that the CAC is very strong from top to bottom, and we hope that our strong non-conference schedule will help prepare us for the quality teams we will certainly face later in the season. We know that there are no easy games on our schedule, and we look forward to some very competitive matches throughout the fall!” stated fifth-year head coach Peter Krech ’09.
The season will begin on Friday, August 31 as the Seahawks will travel to Randolph-Macon College for a 4 p.m. start. St. Mary’s then stays on the road, facing McDaniel in a 1 p.m. tilt in Westminster, Md., on Sunday, September 2.
The Seahawks will host Eastern Mennonite University in their home-opener on Wednesday, September 5 for a 4 p.m. kickoff. After playing at Stevenson University on Saturday, September 8, St. Mary’s will be part of a soccer tripleheader with the men’s soccer tournament on Sunday, September 9, as the team hosts Hood College at 12 p.m.

Non-conference play continues at home against Haverford College on Saturday, September 15 at 1:30 p.m. before hitting the road against Lynchburg on Wednesday, September 19 and Washington Adventist University on Saturday, September 22.
St. Mary’s returns to Seahawk Stadium for a two-game home-stand versus Washington and Lee University on Sunday, September 23 at 3 p.m. and The Catholic University of America on Wednesday, September 26 on 4 p.m.
League play gets underway on Saturday, September 29 as the Seahawks head to Southern Virginia University before taking on Virginia Wesleyan in Virginia Beach, Va., for their final non-conference matchup of the season on Wednesday, October 3.
St. Mary’s resumes conference action on Saturday, October 6, playing a doubleheader with the men’s team as the Seahawks host the University of Mary Washington at 1:30 p.m. The team welcomes Salisbury University to campus on Wednesday, October 10 at 4 p.m. before getting on the bus for a two-game road trip to Frostburg State University on Saturday, October 13 and York College of Pennsylvania on Wednesday, October 17.
The last two matches of the year will be at Seahawk Stadium and features the Seahawks and Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday, October 20 at 1 p.m. as part of Hawktoberfest on Senior Day. The team then plays host to Christopher Newport on Wednesday, October 24 at 3:30 p.m. for their final game at Seahawk Stadium before the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium Complex opens up in January 2019.
The opening round of the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament takes place on Saturday, October 27 before the semifinal round on October 31 and the championship match up on Saturday, November 3.
