St. Mary’s City, Md. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s soccer schedule for the upcoming 2018 season has been announced and St. Mary’s is looking to make its final season at Seahawk Stadium a banner one.
2018 St. Mary’s Men’s Soccer Schedule
The Seahawks finished the 2017 campaign as the No. 2 seed in the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament for just the third time in program history. St. Mary’s posted an 11-7 overall record, including a program-best seven league wins (7-2 CAC) plus a 6-3 mark in Seahawk Stadium, for its second straight 10-win season and third in the last four years.
Eighteen regular-season matches makeup this year’s slate, including matchups with three participants from the 2017 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament – Hobart College, DeSales University and the University of Mary Washington. Hobart, who reached the second round of the NCAA tournament, received votes in the final 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer poll.
“We are really excited to get the 2018 season underway. I believe that we have a very testing out-of-conference schedule that will definitely prepare us for our competitive conference games. We know that every game is going to be a battle and we are really looking forward to the challenge,” expressed eighth-year head coach Alun Oliver ’04.
St. Mary’s kicks off the season with three straight road games, taking on Moravian College and Hobart at Salisbury University’s Elmer Lord Memorial Classic on Friday, August 31 and Saturday, September 1, respectively, before traveling to Washington College for a 7 p.m. start on Wednesday, September 5.

The team then begins a four-game home-stand with the annual Seahawk Classic with Salisbury, Bridgewater (Va.) College, and Virginia Wesleyan University. St. Mary’s faces Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, September 8 at 2 p.m. before battling Bridgewater the next day at 4 p.m. Randolph-Macon College comes to town on Wednesday, September 12 for a 4 p.m. start before the Seahawks welcome Stevenson University on Saturday, September 15 for a doubleheader with the women’s team at 4 p.m.
St. Mary’s will play three of its next four games on the road, hitting up Swarthmore College on Wednesday, September 19, Washington Adventist University on Monday, September 24, and opening up conference action on Saturday, September 29 at Southern Virginia University. The Saturday before the Washington Adventist game, the Seahawks will host DeSales at 4 p.m.
The final non-conference game of the season will be on Tuesday, October 2 against The Catholic University of America at 4 p.m. in Seahawk Stadium before returning to CAC play on Saturday, October 6 in a doubleheader with the women, hosting Mary Washington at 4 p.m. League action continues on the road at Salisbury University on Wednesday, October 10 and at Frostburg State University on Saturday, October 13.
The Seahawks wrap up their home schedule with York College of Pennsylvania on Wednesday, October 17 at 3:30 p.m. and Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday, October 20 at 3:30 p.m. as part of Hawktoberfest, marking their final two games at Seahawk Stadium before the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium Complex opens up in January 2019. St. Mary’s will recognize its seniors against Harrisburg as well.
St. Mary’s will conclude the regular-season on the road as the Seahawks travel to Newport News, Va., for a battle against Christopher Newport University under the lights on Wednesday, October 24 at 7 p.m.
The opening round of the Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament takes place on Saturday, October 27 before the semifinal round on October 31 and the championship match up on Saturday, November 3.
