Grand Lake, Colo. – St. Mary’s College of Maryland gained a spot on the 2018 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Squad as the IWLCA released its list of honorees Monday afternoon.

St. Mary’s was named an Academic Honor Squad for the seventh straight season. The Seahawks were one of 339 schools across NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA named as IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads for the 2017-18 academic year.

In order to qualify for this prestigious honor, the women’s lacrosse team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the year. The Seahawks posted a 3.179 team grade point average for the academic year.

This is the program’s 10th team academic award in 11 years. All but two of the nine Capital Athletic Conference institutions which sponsor women’s lacrosse joined St. Mary’s as Academic Honor Squads – Christopher Newport University, Frostburg State University, Marymount (Va.) University, University of Mary Washington, Salisbury University, and York College of Pennsylvania.
