UPDATE 9/10/2018: On September 8, 2018, Manuel DeJesus Portillo Romero, age 20 from Alexandria, Virginia, was reported missing. Romero along with family members, were at Myrtle Point Park, located on the water of the Patuxent River in California, MD. As family was preparing to leave the park, Romero was unable to be located. An extensive water and land search was conducted for the
missing person on September 8th, and the following day which did not yield any further information.
On September 9, 2018, at approximately 4:10 p.m., deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 24000 block of Half Pone Point Road in Hollywood, and recovered a deceased body from the water. The individual recovered was positively identified as Manuel DeJesus Portillo Romero. At this time no foul play is suspected; per protocol Romero was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

Manual DeJesus Portillo Romero, a missing swimmer, has been located deceased. The St. Mary’s County Nixle went out over 24 hours ago and at approx. 7:30 p.m. .The Sheriff’s Department along with the Coast Guard were involved in the search. More information will be released and reported as soon as possible.
