Hosted by math professors from the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Southern Maryland Math Circle encourages a sense of discovery and excitement about mathematics through problem-solving and interactive exploration. Past topics include “Hat Games,” “Weird Ways to Multiply,” “Games with Sticks, Sleepovers, and Captain Kirk,” and “Playing Card Polyhedra.” Southern Maryland Math Circle is held during the school year on the second Saturday of each month at the Lexington Park library, starting October 13 as part of the Global Math Project. Maryland Commerce Accepting Applications for Cybersecurity Investment Incentive Tax CreditThe Maryland Department of Commerce is now accepting applications for the Cybersecurity Investment Incentive Tax Credit, designed to attract investment in Maryland cybersecurity companies. Through the tax credit program, venture capitalists, angel investors, and others investing at least $25,000 in a Qualified Maryland Cybersecurity Company (QMCC) may be eligible for a refundable tax credit for 33 percent of the investment. Investors who invest in a cybersecurity business in Allegany, Dorchester, Garrett, or Somerset counties may qualify for a tax credit of 50 percent of their investment.
