Several deputies, corrections officers and civilians of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office were recognized by Sheriff Tim Cameron for their commitment to excellence and professionalism on Wednesday at the Second Quarter Awards.
Cpl. James Stone, not present for the ceremony, was named as the Deputy of the Second Quarter.
CFC Melissa Dodson was named as the Correctional Officer of the Second Quarter.
Monica Thomas of Inmate Services was named as Civilian of the Second Quarter.
Correctional Officer Alexander Tasciotti was recognized with the Lifesaving Award, for assisting an inmate at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center who was choking on June 4, 2018.
Sheriff Cameron’s Sheriff’s Salute went to DFC Dale Smith, Kelly Castle, Laura DeNeale, Krista Holland, Lt. Saraha Norris and Glenda Thompson.
On several occasions, DFC Smith provided transportation to citizens in need. While it may seem insignificant, it meets a significant need for the citizen involved, and often their family and friends, at the time.
Castle, DeNeale, Holland, Norris and Thompson volunteered to assist with the Maryland Correctional Administrators Association’s annual conference in June. Without their willingness to step up to the challenge, the conference would not have been a success.
