Hazelton, W. Va.- The Department of Justice confirms one of America’s most notorious mob members- Whitey Bulger- was found dead at 8:20 a.m. in his cell.

Bulger was recently transferred from a Federal prison in Florida to the U.S. Penitentiary Hazelton in West Virginia, a maximum security facility. Officials say prison staff tried to resuscitate him. 

Bulger was currently serving a life sentence in connection with his 2013 convictions for eleven murders, racketeering and fire arms possession. On November 14, 2013, Bulger was sentenced to two life terms, plus 5 years. 

Bulger was 89 years old.
