WAMTC Band Festival:
Students perform one warm up piece followed by two graded selections. The music difficulty is based on a Maryland State Scale ranging from I to VI (a + next to the grade means there are two levels chosen ex. II+ = II & III.) Students are graded by three judges on stage for their prepared pieces. They are judged on Tone, Intonation, Balance, Musicality, Technique, Appearance, Discipline, etc. Judges comments are written and recorded. Every ensemble also must listen to two other ensembles as a group to complete the festival experience.
Judges’ Scores: I = Superior II = Excellent III = Very Good IV = Good V = Participation score
