ANNAPOLIS, Md. – U.S. Naval Academy Gates 1 and 3 will have modified hours during the holiday season. The following gate hours will be in place during the holiday period of Dec. 17 – Jan. 6. All USNA gates will resume their normal hours Sunday, Jan. 7, 2019.
As a reminder, normal Naval Academy visiting hours are sunrise to 5 p.m. or sunset, whichever is later, daily. Visitors will not be granted access prior to sunrise or after sunset unless coming on for a specific event such as basketball games, concerts, or chapel services.
Gate 1 (off King George St.):
Vehicular Access: Open daily for vehicular access from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will resume normal operation on Jan. 3, 2019.
Pedestrians: The Visitor Access Center will be open to pedestrians as follows:
· Sunday – Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
· Fridays and Saturdays, from 6 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. with the following exception:
o Friday, Dec. 31, the Visitor Access Center will remain open until 2 a.m., Jan 1. The Visitor Access Center secures at sunset for unaffiliated visitors.
· The Visitor Access Center will resume normal operation on Jan 3, 2019.
Gate 3 (Maryland Ave.):
Vehicular Access: Closed for vehicular access throughout the holiday.
Pedestrian Access: The pedestrian gate will be closed with the following exceptions:
Dec. 22: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Dec. 24: 3 p.m. – 11p.m.
Dec. 25: 7 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Dec. 31: 3 p.m. – 2 a.m.
Jan 1: 7 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Jan. 3: 5 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Jan. 6: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m
Please note: Gate 3 CAC operated turnstile will be closed for maintenance from approximately 8 a.m. on Dec. 17, 2018 through the close of business on Dec. 18, 2018.
Gate 8 (Route 450):
Gate 8 hours will not change throughout the holiday season and will remain open 24-hours a day.
Visitors are reminded that everyone 18 and older will be required to show a picture ID and that all bags are subject to search. Vehicles without a Department of Defense or USNA credentialed driver or passenger are not permitted to drive onto the academy grounds. Visitors are encouraged to park at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (price to park is $5) and walk or ride public transportation to downtown Annapolis near the academy. Vehicles with handicapped placards or license plates may enter through Gates 1 or 8.
