News Release, Maryland Environmental Service

MILLERSVILLE, MD —Effective tomorrow, January 16, Mr. Renner joins the Maryland Environmental Service (MES), where he will lead communications programs for the $155MM-revenue, Baltimore area, not-for-profit organization.

Immediately prior to his new role with MES, Mr. Renner worked at the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) as Director of Maryland SmartBuy, a program designed to help first-time homebuyers eliminate college debt. Previously, Mr. Renner served as Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations for The St. Charles Companies, developers of a 9,100-acre planned community in Charles County, Maryland. Mr. Renner is also a former president of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce and was Public Information Officer for the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.

“We’re incredibly pleased to welcome Craig to our great team,” said MES CEO Roy McGrath. “Craig has a long and successful track record of leading effective communications programs for both public and private sector organizations. At DHCD, Craig helped build an extremely successful and innovative mortgage program for Governor Larry Hogan’s Administration. At St. Charles Companies, he was instrumental in developing a broad-based communications and marketing program that extolled the benefits of smart growth and helped make it one of the best-selling planned communities in America. I’m certain that Craig will bring a wealth of insight and talent to our communications programs,” added Mr. McGrath.

“MES does innovative work that improves the environment in a variety of ways all around the state and region,” said Mr. Renner. “Many businesses and industries in Maryland benefit from MES, and I look forward to communicating that important message,” he added.
