The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners, with the recommendation of the Employee Recognition Committee, presented Calvert Marine Museum (CMM) Paleontology Collections Manager John Nance with the Pride & Quality Award.
John recognized CMM’s need for additional space to display artifacts and coordinated the purchase of a pre-owned shelving system — an item that normally retails for $35,000 — for a mere $159. This shelving system provides an additional 800 linear feet of storage space in CMM’s Paleo Pad.

John also recruited volunteers Mike Ellwood and Bill Prochownik to pick up and set up the unit. Recruiting volunteers saved an additional $12,000 in labor and installation fees. John’s efforts saved the county $47,000, a truly astounding amount. Congratulations on your award John.
