Hollywood, MD- On January 18, 2019 The Office of the State Fire Marshal was called to investigate a fire on Sandy Bottom Road in Hollywood, MD.
The fire, which was called in by a neighbor at 2:07 p.m., was placed under control by first due, Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department in about 20 minutes.
The investigation revealed the preliminary reported cause to be an overloaded power strip in the basement. The Fire Marshal estimated the loss from the fire to be $225,000(structure), and $50,000.00(contents).

Also reported is the death of five family pets, one dog and four cats. The Fire Marshal reports there were no injuries involved and the family is currently being assisted by the American Red Cross, Friends, Family and members of the community.
