NSWC Dahlgren Testing May Produce Very Loud Noise, Jan. 29-31, 2019

Access to the Potomac River Middle Danger Zone To Be Restricted During Testing

DAHLGREN, Va. – The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) will conduct range testing Jan. 29-31 (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) that may produce very loud noise in communities surrounding Naval Support Facility Dahlgren. The testing hours will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Access to the Potomac River Middle Danger Zone – as described in 33 CFR 334.230 – will be restricted during testing.

Operations in Building 1186/Testing at Main Range/Testing at Shock Tube Road

* Operating Times: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

* Noise on Station: Potential to create “LOUD” noise in the eastern (Main Range) and northern (C-Gate) areas of NSF Dahlgren

* Noise Down Range: Potential to create “LOUD” noise down range and in communities surrounding NSF Dahlgren

* River Restrictions: Restricted approximately 10,000 yards down range from NSF Dahlgren to yellow N and O buoys

* Roads Closed on Station: Tisdale Road, Caskey Road, Higley Road, Shock Tube Road, Frontage Road, River Bank Road, Fuze Road

* Barricades Closed on Station: Lower Gambo Creek gate, Building 1470 gate, Upper Gambo Creek gate, Frontage Road gate, Main Range Barricades
