Just after 11:00 a.m. this morning volunteer fire units were dispatched including our surface water team to Leonardtown Road at the Hughesville by-pass for a reported vehicle in the water. Hughesville Rescue Squad #2 arrived in minutes to confirm one vehicle in the retaining pond with subjects in the vehicle.

The “raft” was deployed by Hughesville volunteers with the assistance of Waldorf’s surface water team rescuing two occupants – one 93 y/old male and 73 y/old female of the vehicle subsequently transported to the local hospital by PA#2.

Chief #2 (Scott Herbert) had Command with 31 volunteer and paramedic staff on scene. No other injuries reported.
