News Release, Calvert County Public Schools
The Board of Education honored the Calvert High School marching band for the group’s 1st place finish at the US Maryland State Championships in Group IA. In addition to the championship, the band won the Special Award for Best Music.
Dr. Daniel D. Curry, Superintendent, said, “This championship is the first for the Calvert High marching band. We are so proud of their accomplishment.”
The state championship capped off a highly successful season. The band won awards for Best Percussion, Best Music, Best Visual Performance and Best Overall Effect. The band also received the Esprit de Corps Award for Pride, Professionalism and Patriotism.

The Calvert High Band is led by Demetri Bedel, director; Brandon Bryant, assistant director; and Casey Garner and Brittney Klauda, color guard choreographers.
