News Release, Office of House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer(D-Md.)

WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement this evening on the Trump Administration’s Domestic Gag Rule on Title X funding, which cuts off funding for access to family planning and affordable health care:

“The Trump Administration’s decision to impose restrictions on the medical advice that health care providers can share with their patients puts millions of Americans at risk. Planned Parenthood and other health centers that receive funding from the Title X Family Planning Program serve millions of women and families, including many from vulnerable populations, by providing health screenings and a plethora of basic services. This includes protecting communities and the public by combatting the spread of infections like HIV/AIDS.

“Once again, we are seeing President Trump pander to an extreme base, jeopardizing the health of millions of Americans by punishing those who choose to provide the full range of reproductive care using other, non-federal funding. I will continue to oppose these efforts and stand up for every woman’s right to access health care safely and affordably.”
