Leonardtown, MD- The Department of Emergency Services is pleased to announce the promotion of Animal Control Warden Joy Wilson to Animal Control Supervisor. Joy, who came to St. Marys County Animal Control Services in 2014, has extensive experience in the field of Animal Sheltering and Humane Animal Control Law Enforcement.

Prior to her experience here in St. Mary’s County, Joy served in the position of Chief Animal Control Officer for the City of Alexandria, VA., where she was awarded Public Service Awards from the Virginia Animal Control Association. She was also awarded a Leadership Award from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.

Joy is strongly devoted to Animal Welfare, Public Safety and Community Outreach. She is deeply passionate about her duties in Animal Control Services and very excited to be a part of the team in the development of the new St. Mary’s County Animal Shelter.

Joy will supervise day to day activities of the St. Mary’s County Animal Control Division.
