News Release, Calvert County Government

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – March 29, 2019 – The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) will hold a public hearing Tuesday, April 2, 2019, to consider and receive comments regarding a request from the town of North Beach to surrender two water franchises. The proposed ordinance would allow the Town of North Beach to surrender water franchises previously granted by the BOCC in the Calvert County area of North Beach west of Greenwood Avenue.

The North Beach Sewer and Water Department will continue to repair and maintain water infrastructure that the Town of North Beach has installed in franchise areas. The department will also serve potential customers whose properties are passed by existing water mains in the public rights of way abutting those properties, subject to the property owner’s obligation to pay for the connection infrastructure.

The hearing will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Commissioners’ Hearing Room in the Calvert County Circuit Courthouse, located at 175 Main St. in Prince Frederick. Citizens are encouraged to view the resolution online.
