Upper Marlboro, Md- Prince George’s County Police detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an 18 year old female inside of a Fort Washington home last night. The decedent is Saniyah Floyd of Walker Mill Road in Capitol Heights.

On April 7th, at approximately 10:30 pm, patrol officers responded to a residence in the 13000 block of Buchanan Drive. Officers found Floyd in a bedroom suffering from a single gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators are speaking with witnesses who were with Floyd at the time and reviewing forensic evidence as they work to determine the facts as to what exactly happened in the home.
Detectives are investigating whose gun was involved in this incident. The gun was recovered on the scene.

Investigators are consulting with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office regarding this case.
