Calvert Elementary Teacher of the Year: Nancy Barker

From Principal Joe Sampson: Nancy Barker is the epitome of good teaching. Her ability to work with staff and students is like nothing I have ever seen, and the growth her students make each year is proof. She is a leader in the building with our inclusive education and Universal Design for Learning efforts. Mrs. Barker is the type of teacher who could teach anywhere, at any grade level, and still be one of the best teachers in the building.

When asked to give some positive words about Mrs. Barker, one of her students said, “she is kind, patient, and hard working and works with her students to make sure they understand a topic. Students who work with Mrs. Barker make huge, noticeable growth. Our school community wouldn’t be the same without her!”

When your students speak of you in that manner, you’re doing something right. Congratulations, Mrs. Barker!
